One of the most efficient ways to limit the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of individuals which must not be able to open it. There are numerous good reasons to do that. As an illustration, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your website, or you could limit the access for an entire country. You may also block IP addresses in case you notice that there are too many web browser requests from them, if a lot of spam comments are left in your Internet sites or if a script login page has been loaded many times. In any of these cases, the traffic is most probably fake and has been created by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any shady IP address, so as to be on the safe side. Thus, you will also stay away from the chance of your server getting overloaded by way too many fake requests.
IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting
If you have a shared website hosting account with us and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a rather simple interface, you are able to prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do this is to log within to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to select a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You'll not have to do anything difficult if you wish to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the very same section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with a mouse click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our Linux semi-dedicated servers, will allow you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very easily. It features an IP blocking tool in which you could add IP addresses with only several clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have inside the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just need to select the one you need and then input the IP address which should be blocked. If you wish to block a whole range, a C-class network for example, you simply need to input the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you'll not have to input them manually. Since all the IPs which you add in this section will be listed, you could easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the particular IP.
